Almost 5 years ago I wrote “Citi Shutdown: Citi Closed All My Credit Cards“. At that time it was one of the earliest publically reported shutdown reasons for “too many recently opened accounts”. I had made two reinstatement requests (one of which was made directly to Citi while another was routed through CFPB) but both took me nowhere. A year and half ago, I had wrote a post “Am I Unbanned by Citi? Maybe” highlighting the fact that my previous report with them was no longer used in denial letters. Citi ban kinda sucked because Chase had already axed me for similar reasons. And I was fairly found of Citi program and perhaps one of the few blogs at the time that was almost as equally found of them as other major programs.
Fast forward to recent times, I have been getting snailmails from Citi to apply for cards. So, I applied for Citi American Airlines Business card using a new address (I vaguely recall people saying new address has helped them get through previous bans) and online verification, voilà…
Closing Thoughts
Once again I can potentially concurrently hold Chase/Amex/Citi cards like good old times. I have been back with Chase for a while now.
