A while ago I wrote about 80k MR retention offer and I was offered it again on a different Business Platinum card. The interesting thing is that the rep tried to sell it as 120k MR retention offer by including 40k earned from spend. The alternative offers were
- $300 with no spend
- 5k MR instantly and 15k MR after 10k spend within 92 day
Again the rep tried to sell the latter offer as 30k offer. Very misleading.
Anyway, the more interesting part was getting offers on cards with no fee. For example, the Business Blue card had these two options:
- 5k MR instantly and another 5k after $3k spend within 3 months or
- $50 instantly and $100 after spending $2k within 3 months
Likewise, the Amazon credit card was offered an instant $50 credit. No other offers were available.
Closing Thoughts
Take a few minutes to chat with an agent. Note that business and personal reps are different so probably a good idea to ask for retention offer on all personal (or business) cards at once.
