By now you’ve probably read about upcoming Mint coin deals. PFS buyers club, which is quite possibly the only buying group mentioned in miles and points blogosphere, is paying $50 commission for buying and shipping these coins to them. However the competition of securing your buy is getting steep as another group is paying twice as much commission.
Lately I have been a little preoccupied and perhaps that is why a Samsung 9 BOGO deal through T-Mobile didn’t catch my eye. It has been live since 22nd of August and will die in a few days on 30th of August. I know some of you like these mobile phone deals (I do too!) so I will try to cover this quickly.
UPDATE: Reinstated. Maybe I will do a followup post later.
As you might recall in December of 2017, Chase shut my credit cards due to too many recent inquires and accounts. Then in first half of 2018, my player #2 got all Chase cards closed due to number of inquires and existing accounts. Now in the latter half of 2018, Chase has shutdown my player #3 for similar reasons.
Despite what the casual credit card community might say, the best keeper premium card (for simplicity’s sake let’s only include cards with $450-$500 annual fee) isn’t Chase Sapphire Reserve. That is a fact. My own list of “best premium cards” has not included CSR for quite some time. Yes, CSR may be convenient for many but it isn’t and never was a one card to rule them all. . The only correct answer to “what is the best keeper premium card?” question is – “YMMV” (your mileage may vary).
As you might have noticed I have not written “learning from denials” in a while and that is mostly because I actually learned from my previous round of applications. Some of you may recall that in my previous round of application (see learning from denials #3), I was denied 8/8 credit cards I had applied for. Now to be fair to myself I had picked conservative banks to apply for in my last round of applications.
Citi send out a “Feel Like a Million Points” mailer which reveals an upcoming sweepstakes where first place winner gets one million points.
This morning I was in downtown to purchase $50 Saks “item” for various American Express Platinum cards I hold. While I was at it, I thought, for the first time since holding Movie Pass, I would go and purchase tickets for a movie I would not see nor had any intention of seeing. So, I’m at a kios trying to purchase a ticket for some screening that I can’t even remember…but Movie Pass won’t let me check in on my mobile. I tried Movie Pass #2 on my SO’s mobile and it was the same story. Eventually I ended up purchasing two ticket for Mission Impossible with my Sinemia card but things came up and I ended up leaving the theater before the screening even began.
Pie in yet another rebate/cashback app like Drop, Spent, and countless others out there. At the moment Pie is all about local cashback i.e. only cashback on stuff you buy locally in stores offering offers. Pei pays out in cash or Bitcoin. The android version of it came out a few days ago.
The last time I wrote about PFS Buyers Club was back in December of 2017 when they were buying iPhone X. They’re offering small commission for buying and selling Mint coin to them.
As some of you know I’ve been trying to get Altitude Reserve for a long time. Several people in my family hold the card but I had been denied for this card for 5 straight times.
