I was one of the early publicly detailed out case of Chase shutdown due to number of inquires and accounts. In order to spread awareness, I have extensively written about it over and over again. But now it looks like I’m pioneering this type of shutdown as my player #2 has also been shut.
If you’ve been following the recent credit card news then you’re probably aware of the alternative signup offer on Chase Freedom Unlimited card that normally offers 1.5x on all purchases. The obvious question is “should you get this new offer?” but the lesser obvious question is “why does it exist?”. But if you can brainstorm why Chase created this offer then you can probably guess if this offer will be trumped.
Does MPX work on Penfed PathFinder American Express card? Yes. This might as well be an unwritten rule – whenever you see American Express card issued by a different bank, try MPX. But can you do better? Definitely. Cash is better than $100 Amazon giftcard you could buy through MPX.
Citi price rewind is one of my favorite benefits in a Citi card. Citi Price Protection currently has a limit of up to $500 per claim and total of up to $2500 per calendar year. Citi price rewind, like most credit card purchase protection, is available for up to 60 days from the date of purchase. What makes Citi price rewind stand out from price protection offered by other credit card issuers is that fact that you can file a claim with Citi online within 3 minutes or even less. Furthermore, you can file a claim and let Citi automatically detect a price reduction.
One of the best card released in 2018 was Penfed Pathfinder Rewards. This no annual fee card earns up to 4x on travel, provides one Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit every 5 year, has 25k signup bonus, and most of all provides an annual travel credit of $100. Sure these points cannot be cashed out, have 0.85 cpp redemption on gift cards such as that of Amazon, but free annual credit is free and the signup bonus is generous enough for such a feature packed no annual fee card. However, when attempting to redeem my annual travel credit, I noticed that the travel credit nullifies deducts credit just like a refund would.
One of the few phones you can use on Project Fi is the Fi exclusive Android One Moto X4. Android One Moto X4 is essentially Moto X4 that is cleaner and has Google backing. Currently Fi sells Moto X4 at $249 (after $150) discount but for each pair of Moto X4 you buy (up to 6 total) you also get $249 credit. You can sweeten this deal further through a referral.

One of my favorite things flying out of Chicago was the fact that both MDW and ORD were equipped with Project Fi’s travel trolleys. It was possible to carry around pictures of QR codes associated with various accounts and essentially get one item per QR code in a single visit. If the vending machine was broken, one always had the option to reach out to the folks behind the vending machine and get an item of choice shipped directly to home. However, all that is changing because these travel trolleys are rapidly being pulled away from all airports. On March 26th MDW trolley was gone and on 29th ORD was pulled away.
