I’m not Banned by Chase Anymore? No More Unsatisfactory Relationship?

All my Chase credit cards were closed on December of 2017 but finally it looks like I’ve some chance of getting Chase cards again. I might not be blacklisted from getting a new Chase card anymore.

My Chase shutdown was triggered by a business credit card application and the denial reason for that particular application was because I had “unsatisfactory relationship with the bank” (see above linked article for the letter). It is typical of Chase to review an app, shutdown the applicants credit card portfolio, and then deny the app because the applicant now has unsatisfactory relationship with the bank.

It is fairly well known that once Chase says you’ve unsatisfactory relationship with the bank, it takes a while for things to get back to normal….if they ever do. Since this type of shutdown (i.e. shutdown due to high number of inquires and accounts) is different than the typical Chase shutdowns that preceded it (ex: shutdown due to MO deposits, selling of points, and anonymous payments), I though that Chase would be willing to forgive sooner. As such, I recently applied for Chase card (along with other cards….look for a post on that in coming days) and surprisingly enough the term “unsatisfactory relationship with the bank” was nowhere to be seen in the letter they sent me.

The “unsatisfactory relationship” term was gone in 10-11 months. Maybe Chase gets rid of it sooner but I wouldn’t know since I hadn’t applied sooner. However, I know someone who applied 4 months after the shutdown and got denied due to unsatisfactory relation.

So…did I actually get a new Chase card? No. I still got denied for “too many request for credit”. Lately, that has been my major denial reason across several issuers so that isn’t too surprising that Chase denied me for said reason.
