Back in late 2017, my shutdown was one of earliest shutdown due to too many inquiries and accounts. Few months later I posted an article on P2 shutdown for the same reason and in late 2018 I posted about P3 shutdown for the same reason as well. P3 was unbanned quickly after but the rest of us weren’t as lucky. If you want wish to go down the rabbit hole, you may also read these three articles regarding CFPB complains and appealing reinstatement:
- CFPB against Chase for shutdown due too too many inquires and accounts
- Is contacting Chase executive office for shutdown worth it?
- How to (attempt to) get your Chase account reinstated for shutdown due too too many inquires or account
I don’t know how relevant those articles are today but at the time I think they were b/c of minimal data points on such shutdowns.
Anyway by late 2018, it showed that I was no longer in “unsatisfactory relationship” with Chase. In one of my other post I had speculated that unsatisfactory relation for this particular reason can fade away in at most 6 months. But I remember one time applying for myself and P2 for Chase card through that “leaked” link that skipped 5/24. We had both been approved but by the time we got the card, both of our accounts were closed. I should mention that all this time both of us were allowed to hold Chase checking accounts. I myself have opened and closed them for bonuses as well.
Anyway, some of you might remember that I was getting under 5/24 much sooner but my plan was halted due to 100k Platinum offer. Well, fast forward to this month, I am under 5/24 and have been approved for Chase Sapphire Preferred. I chose to go with Preferred because 80k UR points + $50 is one of its highest offer plus it is one of the best offer on any Chase card right now.
Closing Thoughts
I am pretty sure I waited too long but in hindsight I had forgotten how long ago all of this had happened until I started looking back the old shutdown articles. Plus getting under 5/24 takes a whole 2 year anyway. Now, its time to see if P2 is in Chase’s good book as well.

How did you find you were no longer unsatisfactory?
