Super Cheap Hotels for Few Cents – Thanks Citi

A trick to book some cheap hotel for few cents has existed existed for a while now. People aren’t talking about it because (a) they’re too busy abusing it and (b) it isn’t a lucrative deal on hotel that aren’t super cheap.

If you use Thank You points then you’ve probably seen above banner.

You probably dismissed it because $50 off on 2 night isn’t that big of a deal. But it can be if you find super duper cheap hotels. For example, here is are some of the cheapest hotels in Kathmandu (Nepal) that you can book through Citi portal. Yes, these hotels are likely far cheaper if you directly book with them in cash but hold that thought for a moment.

I will choose the 3-star “Hotel The Greatwall” because it is one of the cheapest hotel in Kathmandu bookable through Citi portal ($25.02 USD/night), plus it has a decent enough reviews.

I personally would not pay $50.05 for that because I know I can get better deals in Kathmandu. But I would be more than happy to pay 5 cents for 2 night.

Can You do Better?

Sure.

If had Premier, I would have been able to pay 4 TY points instead of 5 cents 🙂

Obviously there is the fact that I could have found a hotel that was even cheaper.

Now, think about a hotel that costs roughly $50 for 4 nights after 4th night benefit of Prestige kicks-in.

What if you happen to have a Premier on top? Instead of paying 70 TY points, I could have paid only 56 TY points.

Can I do even better? Well, repeat the promo!
