Some of you may recall my first blog post, made on June 12th of 2016, was on US Bank’s Club Carlson (now renamed to Radission Rewards) Business Rewards card. I recall being super enthusiast about Radission Rewards business card and surprisingly a good chunk of me still loves this card to this date. My motivation for holding on to this card perhaps aren’t the same, nevertheless point remains that I still value this card. Anyway, I recently helped family member help get Radission Rewards business and Altitude Reserve card from US Bank but things didn’t go exactly as planned.
I had said person fund a bank account and the funding went through just fine but few days later the card stopped working. Some days later a letter came through the mail stating that the card had been closed.
You are hereby notified that your Radission Rewards Business Visa account has been cancelled due to the following reason:
- Unable to verify account information.
When I saw the letter, I thought it was just verification stuff, so we casually called credit specialist at mentioned 18009471444 number. These specialist said they could not do anything about it so they transferred us to card member services 8663521002 number that was added to the closed credit card profile. Then multiple calls that were made during different times of their office hours (7 am – 3:30 pm central time) but when every single one of them went unanswered, we finally we left a voicemail.
Within a few days we got a call back and the conversation went something like this
“reinstate please?”
“what transaction was this on that date?”
“bank account was opened”
“personal or business?”
“personal”
The moment “personal” was said, I knew it was over and it was. The representative then said that business cards should not be used to open personal accounts and as such the account will remain closed.
I suppose “business” could have been said instead but I think it was obvious that the account funded was indeed personal. Although I seriously doubt it maybe the representative on the phone wanted to hear “business” and maybe after hearing those magic words the account would have been reinstated. I guess we’ll never know.
Thankfully the Altitude Reserve account is intact. Sadly Chicago local train doesn’t qualify for travel credit…it was a wishful thinking to begin with.
Closing Thoughts
US Bank is serious business.

They are back under the name of Fidelity Rewards Card, as of Jan, 2019. The service is the worst in the banking/CC industry I have experienced in 30+ years. Even the representative I talked to on the phone stated the phone wait is going to be long, if/when I speak to the ‘right department’. Fidelity is doing a disservice to their members, in my opinion.
interesting. wonder if they knew if was for a different person.
i received closing letters for each of my accounts due to missing Know York Customer info. anyone have any ideas what this could be related to? (3k or less MS on each cards in the past year)
thanks for any ideas!
