BOGO for $9.99
Before you proceed with the purchase make sure
- You are using a VAN (read below on why)
- the checkout page mentions a free box and says your initial cost is $9.99
Review
First things first, this box has a lot of negative reviews. If online reviews are to be believed then Urthbox
- tends to charge unsuspecting customers 3/6 month subscriptions out of the blue
- customer service is horrible
- is overpriced
I think using Virtual Subscription Account on new subscription boxes is a must because doing so can help avoid unwanted bills from these type of boxes. My experience with Urthbox customer service has been okay…they’ve responded to my inquires.
Now as far as the pricing goes – generally speaking a well-priced monthly food/snack subscription box is really hard to find (Degusta box is one of the few exception) and you’re more or less taking a gamble with food/snack boxes.
But my March Urthbox was at a whole another level gamble…and disappointment….and surprise.
I would be mad if I was paying $19.99 for above displayed Vegan Urthbox. The fact that there is only two full sized snack in a supposedly $19.99 Vegan snackbox is hilarious. But since I paid $9.99 for two boxes, I took my time to enjoy this bizarre snack box.
The content of this box and their estimated pricing is as follows:
- Ocean’s Halo Organic Seaweed Snack (Amazon) – estimated $0.79 per bag
- Hometown Bagel Sea Salt All Natural Bagel Chips – estimated $3.36 per bag
- Rescue Plus Stress Complex 15 Count – estimated $8.4?
- Pyure Organic Liquid Stevia Sweetener – $4.43
- Pomegranate Mojito Green Energy Tea – estimated $0.63 per bag
- RUN GUM Fruit Energy Gum – estimated $1.87
- Citrus Nutrient Rich Energy (similar product) – estimated $1?
- B-Fresh Spearmint 12 count – estimated $1.47
My net came out to be $21.95 which is obviously bigger than $19.99 price tag of this box but do note that
- a lot of these products can be had for cheaper if you take your time to shop around on the internet or better yet do some leg work and buy at store.
- a whole bunch of these items were more or less useless for me
- the quality of some of these products is questionable and I suppose that is the downside of having someone else pack a snackbox for you
The Second Box (Update 5/12/2018)
Due to technical reasons my second box was delayed. I was told I would get it in the next batch of shipment and I did. This box was far better than the first one. I enjoyed all items in the box with coconut chips being the most notable one.
For the curious eyes, I’ve included some closeup pics:
Closing Thought
My 1st box was a huge disappointment but 2nd box was a rather good one. Regardless, BOGO for $9.99 is a good deal but I am not going to commit to this box any further.
I strongly suggest everyone who wants to try this box to use a VAN.
