There are two brand new cards and you should likely not overlook them. Both of these cards happen to be “premium” Visa Infinite cards. I have applied for both but unfortunately I have been only approved for one. This is better than my last “two not so popular credit cards to not overlook” post where I had 2/2 denial. Actually, I did manage to get one of them…..only after applying for 4th time in the same month.
I was denied for Capital One Venture X. The card has an excellent one year benefit and only costs $395 in annual fee:
https://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/venture-x/
- [limited time] 100k signup bonus
- [limited time] $200 statement credit for rentual purchase
- $300 annual travel credit for booking through Capital One Travel
- 10k anniversary bonus (practically a yearly retention offer)
One could easily argue that Capital One Venture X is a keeper card, granted you actually spend $300 in travel. Additional perks include:
- 10x miles on hotel and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel
- 5x on flights booked through Capital One Travel
- 2x on all other purchase
- no fee for up to 4 authorized users
- free priority pass for primary card holder as well as authorized users
- free access to Capital One Lounge for primary card holder as well as authorized users (they look very good)
- Dallas Fort Worth lounge [view from the wing] [god save the points] [thrifty traveler] [cnn]
- Denver (DEN) to open in 2022
- Washington Dulles (IAD) to open in 2022
- remember Capital one has 15+ transfer partners
- see this upgraded point’s article for list of transfer partner
The card I was approved for is Bank of America Premium Elite. I applied through the link that was shared in this post of Doctor of Credit, the ending page told me to call, I didn’t call, yet the card showed up. This card has a whooping $550 annual fee but the perks don’t justify the fee. However, the one year benefit are worth looking at:

- 50k signup bonus
- $150 annual lifestyle statement credit. Covers food delivery, streaming services, fitness subscription or rideshare services.
- $300 annual airline statement credit for qualifying purchases such as airline lounge fee, seat upgrade, baggage fee and in-flight services.
Additional perks that sweeten the deal include:
- 20% saving for airfare paid for with points through the Bank of America Travel Center or the Concierge
- 2 points for every dollar spend on travel and dining purchase
- 1.5 points on all other purchase
- If you are enrolled in bank of America Preferred Rewards at the Platinum Honors, Diamond, or Diamond Honors tier, you receive a 75% additional bonus on every purchase. That means you could earn 3.5 points on travel and dining and 2.62 points per $1 spend on all other purchases.
Closing Thoughts
2.62 points everywhere is good but that requires you to have money (I don’t). Beside, I get far far far better return through crypto cards.
Having said that, its almost December so time to prepare for some triple dipping.
