Lately I have been a little preoccupied and perhaps that is why a Samsung 9 BOGO deal through T-Mobile didn’t catch my eye. It has been live since 22nd of August and will die in a few days on 30th of August. I know some of you like these mobile phone deals (I do too!) so I will try to cover this quickly.
The Basics
You need to purchase phones at Costco at full retail price. You will get $680 rebate in a form of a prepaid t-mobile debit card which as always can be cashed at at most local banks. Once the rebate is mailed to you (you can check that online), you can cancel your t-mobile line(s), however I would typically wait till I have the card in my hand before cancelling lines. You can expect to receive your debit card within 6-8 weeks.
If you’re a new customer, you need to get 2 lines. If you’re an existing customer, you simply need to add one line. This deal will work on non-ONE plans as well. T-Mobile’s 55+ plan and military plan should qualify as well.
There is apparently anti-churning rule that restricts getting these deals more than 6 times in a single account.
Slick deal has put together a nice opening post so read up there for a decent chunk of info on this deal.
Price Protection
If you’re gonna do this deal, try to use a visa (that’s what Costco uses) card with price protection. Since Samsung phones, in their typical fashion, have dropped in prices and will continue to do so, you can get a decent chunk of your money back from price protection as well.
Looks like S9 is being sold by Samsung for $616.99 on Amazon, so it isn’t exaggeration to say that you can expect to see at least $100 price protection refund per phone.
Closing Thoughts
Interesting deal because it doesn’t require ONE plans. But the Costco restriction means I’ll have to use a Visa card. Also, I’m tempted to gamble on waiting for Note 9 BOGO deal which typically arrives within a month or two from now.
