Unless you’re iPhone (or someone who follows in their footstep), electronic products still come with power adapters. So, the natural question is – why would anyone want to buy a separate power adapter? The answer boils down to convince and luxury.
The Sirius 65 W Universal charger by Eggtronic (amazon affiliate link) claims to be the world’s smallest 65 W USB-C GaN power adapter. It will charge more or less everything you need it to charge. In a word where even smart phones are charging at 120 W, it makes sense to carry around a universal charger with higher watt. Sirius adapter comes in two color – white and black.
This universal charger has a dimension of 2.70 x 1.98 x 0.77 in which makes it rather easy to carry around. Additionally the prong of the charger folds which makes packing the charger a breeze. The other noticeable benefit is the the soft touch design, the chargers ability to flush well to the wall, and the inclusion of well build and rather long usb-c to usb-c wire. The downside is that this charger only has one usb-c port.
Eggtronic also has 63W universal power bank (amazon affiliate link). I have no idea why it is 63 W and not 65 W but the numbers are what they are. Personally whenever I can I skip carrying power bank for travel. As many of you know I like to travel with a light single bag. But whenever I had to carry a power bank I used to carry one I bought 5-6 years ago. The issue with said power bank is that it doesn’t have USB-C ports which meant I had to carry around an extra cord. Well as it turns out the Eggtronic powerbak has a USB-C port. And I think 63W is just good enough for it to be future proof 5-6 years down the road when more or less everything will charger faster.
Speaking of future proof, I should also mention that it comes with a digital battery indicator which will precisely display the charge left.
This powerbank has 20,000 mAh battery which is well within the limitation of airlines. Eggtronic claims this powerbank has enough juice to charge your phone 4-8 times, tablet 3-5 times, and laptop 1.5 times. Additionally, because it is 20k mAh it has a mere weight of 458 g (1 lb 0.2 oz). Furthermore the dimension of 17,1 x 10,2 x 1,6 cm (6.75 x 4 x 0.63 in) makes it fairly easy to pack in a bag.
Other than the power bank you get a USB-C to USB-C cabel as well as a USB-C to USB-A adapter tip. You have a single USB-C input port which can also act as an output port. Additionally you have two USB-A output ports. In total you can simultaneously charge three devices at once.
Last but not least, you can manually turn on the power bank to charge your device. The device will automatically detect if it is connected to a device and start charging as well. This unfortunately means you can’t turn off charging without disconnecting the device from the power bank. However, it is worth mentioning that the power bank will stop charging the device that are fully charged.
Closing Thoughts
Overall these charging devices are pretty well build, however they are also on the relative expensive side of things. You can find the universal adapter here and power bank here (both are amazon affiliate links). The purchase ultimately boils down to – how much is convince and luxury in charging worth to you?
