Pie in yet another rebate/cashback app like Drop, Spent, and countless others out there. At the moment Pie is all about local cashback i.e. only cashback on stuff you buy locally in stores offering offers. Pei pays out in cash or Bitcoin. The android version of it came out a few days ago.
Throughout the last month I’ve invited several people in my telegram groups to beta test Pie. No, I’m not affiliated with Pie nor did I get rewards for invites I handed out. Anyway, the interesting thing about the app is, regardless of how basic it is, I haven’t heard anyone say “I hate this app”.
At the moment the app is very basic. There is the usual “dashboard”, “invite friends”, and”feedback” tab. The main focus is obviously the “local cashback” tab and that is pretty much it. But the important thing is that the app is functional. It isn’t like the Beam Financial app (also in Beta) which is basic but almost nothing works on it. I’ve also been told that a UI update will be rolling out in the future and the app will allow you to filter and search results better.
So…what is so special about it? It earns cashback at some of the merchants you would make purchases at anyway. Example of merchants and cashback rates are:
1% PetSmart, 7-Eleven, Petgo, Target, Old Navy, CVS, Walgreens, Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, American Eagle Outfitters, Starbucks
1.2% GameStop, H&M
1.5% Domino’s Pizza, Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, Panda Express
2% Taco Bell, Supercuts, AMC, Supercuts
5% some local restaurants near you, Jiffy Lube, Papa John’s
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that this stacks well with local cashback offer of Spent app. There are some other things that you’ll become aware of as you use the app but I’ll spare the details.
