PenFed Pathfinder is here again. This time around it has 50,000 signup bonus. It still comes with annual $100 travel credit. The travel credit is easy enough to use that is practically cash.
Easy Annual Fee Waiver
The relaunched card comes with $95 annual fee but the fee is waived for honors advantage member. You can qualify for honors advantage through:
- Military service of the primary applicant (active duty, reserve, honorably discharged, or retired).
- Have and maintain a PenFed Access America Checking Account. You can open a new account, or use an existing account.
You can waive monthly fee on PenFed Access America Checking Account by:
- Setting up a monthly direct deposit of $500 or more
- Maintaining a daily balance of $500 or more
Also, here is an important bit of information for new applicants looking to waive annual fee. This information is directly from the application page itself:
As a PenFed Pathfinder® Rewards cardholder, if you qualify for Honors Advantage (member of the military or Access America account holder) at the time of the application, we will waive the annual fee on your account. If you were not eligible at account opening, but subsequently become eligible, the annual fee will be waived on your next anniversary. If at any time, you fail to meet the eligibility requirement, you will no longer be eligible for the waiver. You will receive advance notice of this change.
Extra $50 via Referral
You can apply though my referral link (not an affiliate link!) and you will get an extra $50 in addition to the signup bonus. I will also get $50.

Get it again!
Now, if you already have the card, you can still get it again. And you probably should. This is the highest signup bonus we have seen in this card. If I recall correctly, when I signed up for the card few years back, the signup bonus was 25k points.
Plus, if you get instantly approved (I did), you will likely get the card on time to burn up your $100 credit for 2020.
How much are the points worth?
Naturally the question is – how much is 50k points worth? You can buy $50 Penfed Prepaid Visa Rewards Card for 5,880 points which means you get 0.85 cpp, so 50k points is equivalent to $425 in cash.
Closing Thoughts
No brainer card. The end of 2020 is giving is great signup bonuses and as a result my road of 5/24 is delayed even further.
