UPDATE: as predicted it died asap.
For a while now some people have been getting first year annual fee waived on American Express Business Gold card. This likely won’t last long now that the story is getting picked up by various blogs. If you’re in the market for Business Gold card then I highly suggest applying for it now.
A while ago I broke the news of many Amex cards being able to refer many other Amex cards. If you’re interested in this Business Gold 50k offer then I highly recommend sweetening this offer through a referral. Business Blue Plus and (some) Platinum cards reward up to 15k/referral and Business Gold rewards up to 20k/referral. The latter may be a good enough reason on its own for picking up this card.
Remember, to only use self-referral as a last resort. I would highly recommend using SO’s referral over self-referral.
If you don’t have Amex card on the family then feel free to navigate through my links on the sidebar but I’m pretty sure 99.99% of my reader base have multiple Amex cards.
How to Check if You “Qualify”?
You can wait till you get card member agreement via snail mail. This stuff will be with the package that comes with your credit card.
Alternatively, you can check online. Once you’re approved for the card, create a new login or add the card to an existing login. If you’ve trouble doing so then you can try this link (use reference number obtained from card approval email). Once you login and select appropriate Business Gold card, navigate as follows:
- click on ”account services” tab
- click on “request cardmember agreement”
- open the downloaded PDF
Just to make it clear, you need to get approved before you know if annual fee will be waived or not for you.
How do I know This Works?
Exact same thing has happened before. Back in 2016 I wrote about annual fee waiver on Business Platinum and it’s pretty much the same thing. Again, because this information is spreading like wildfire, it will not last.
Also, this is a typical way of confirming annual fee waiver after doing various shenanigans. Think outside the box.
