Regal Theater, like AMC and Cinemark theaters, offers movie subscriptions. Regal’s movie subscription, called Regal Unlimited, offers “unlimited” movies, including multiple movies on the same day. Before I talk about how to save money while purchasing Regal Unlimited for a discounted price, let’s discuss pricing on Regal Unlimited.
Regal Unlimited Pricing
Regal Unlimited can cost 18.99/month – 23.99/month (or $227.88/year – $287.88/year). Which Unlimited subscription plan (Regal Unlimited, Regal Unlimited Plus, or Regal Unlimited All Access) you want to get largely depends on the theater near you. The more popular the theater (town, location, etc), the higher the subscription plan is needed for “free” viewing. If you have a lower-tier subscription plan and go to a theater that requires a higher-tier subscription plan for “free” viewing, then you will be charged a few extra bucks. You can check the full list of Regal Unlimited theaters here.
Discount strategy #1 – discounted annual pass
Around this time of the year, Regal offers $60 off from annual pass. This brings the cost down to $167.88 – $227.88 per year. See various slick deals threads: November 2019, September 2021, November 2021, October 2023.
Discount strategy #2 – buy discounted Regal gift cards
You can frequently see Regal $50 gift cards being sold for $40. This means you can save $30 while buying $150 worth of Regal gift cards or $40 while buying $200 worth of gift cards. In fact, as I write this there is a current offer from Egifter (but that may change by the time you are reading this post so I suggest keeping tabs on this Slickdeals search feed instead).
Combining #1 and #2
If you combine both strategies, you are looking at around a $90-$100 discount on the annual pass which is a fairly solid deal. This may be equivalent to paying $11.49, $14.49, or 16.49 monthly for Regal Unlimited, Regal Unlimited Plus, or Regal Unlimited All Access, respectively.
The annual subscription purchase will get you enough Regal points to spend on a few drinks and popcorn.
Closing Thoughts
I generally book tickets at the theater (this avoids having to pay 50 cents online booking fee and makes the theater-going experience spontaneous for me). I have had the annual pass for close to a year and nobody has ever checked my ID or card like they typically do at AMC for AMC passes. You can also watch foreign movies for free but a few foreign movies will be “restricted” and require you to pay full price. Non-standard viewing for movies, like 3D and Regal Premium Experience, can carry a few bucks worth of surcharge. Obviously, viewing Taylor Swift’s performance at the theater will also cost you money.
Once in a while Regal also gives you a free ticket to bring your friends to watch some shitty movies 🙂
