Thank you for supporting the blog.
9/30/2024 Update: Points now transfer 1:1 to Amtrack (5000 points needed). I have updated the review a bit. I don’t think they are offering a referral at the moment but you can get $5 for signing up.
Up to 10% Cashback
Their normal reward structure is as follows:
- 10% cashback on all EV charging
- 5% cashback on utilities
- 10% at bike sharing services nationwide (including CitiBike, bike shops (including gear, accessories and even repairs).
- 5% cashback on public transit nationwide (includes subway systems, citi buses/light rail, regional rail (e.g., Amtrack), and metro systems
- 5% at all offline and online secondhand stores and marketplaces (e.g., Godwill, Salvation Army, ThredUp, Depop, Poshmark, and eBay).
- 5% on electric rideshare services nationwide (Uber Green, Lyft Eletric, Reveal, or other eco-friendly rideshares).
- 5% cashback on plant-based food and restaurants (e.g., PLNT Burger and Purple Carrot)
- 5% cashback at climate-friendly clothing and beauty brands (e.g., KraveBeauty, Reformation, Plaine Products, Nuggly, Axiology Beauty, and Girlfriend Collective).
- 6% cashback at FuturePartners. Currently this includes Plastno, Made Trade, Petaluma, UpChoose, WhatIF Foods, Plaine, Nuuly, ForDays, SortJoy, PLNT Burger, Thousand Fell, Ellitude, Our Place, Krave Beauty, Oasense, Ministry of Supply, Out of the Woods, Everlasting Wardrobe, RAD Power Bikes, EarthHero, Siblings, Wooj, Hilos, Pele Cases, Unspun, Fulton, Just Salad, and Grove Collaborative. See up to date FuturePartners list here.
- 100% cashback on the first month and 10% cashback each month after for connecting your current utilities account to Arcadia
If their system doesn’t reward you cashback properly then just email in your receipts to reciepts@future.green so they can apply the cashback to your purchases.
Cashback earned can be redeemed instantly for the balance on the card.
2.72% APY
Future is offering 2.59% 2.72 APY on your FutureCard balance. Sure, you can get higher APY elsewhere (see 5% on Primis, 5% on One, etc) but it is rare to see a fintech debit card balance earn interest (for instance, Fold, a popular debit card among readers, does not offer APY on balance).
Double Cashback Promo (until August 4th 2023 at 3 PM EST)
Currently, they are running a double cashback promo (until August 4th, 3 PM EST), meaning the card is earning 10% cashback on all climate-friendly transit and thrift stores and 12% at select FuturePartners.
Free and Discounted Train Rides
If you use the subway in NYC, you should get this app. They frequently offer free rides (i.e., 100% cashback) and discounts. It’s also true for a lesser degree for MARC in Baltimore. I also saw a $25 free ride on the Washington DC Subway.
Referral Bonus
From time to time Future offers a referral bonus.
Get a $15 signup bonus when you join Future using the link and fund your Future account with at least $10 or more via a linked bank account.
It is suggested that you signup by clicking on the link while on your mobile. Doing so while on a desktop and providing a phone number does not seem to track for some people.

Closing Thoughts
This was a pretty good card now with the addition of Amtrack as a transfer partner, it has become excellent. 5x Amtrack points for utilities, eBay and 10x on EV charging is pretty good.
They also have “missions” where they reward you FutureCoins (read their description here) for completing some missions. For example, they seem to reward people for trading their gasoline car to an electric car but it is not obvious how much reward is paid on a daily basis.

This one stopped paying out for PPBP, correct?
Only 2% on eBay. And to follow up on my earlier comment, 0% at PPBP.
I should say 1% back on eBay (2x this month on all “Other” spending).
And Amtrak transfers are dead, unfortunately.
