Frontier Airlines, a budget airline, announced the launch of “Companion Travel” on May 07, 2025. As someone who did status matching to Frontier and paid for the GoWild Pass, Frontier’s Companion Travel announcement had my interest. I think some readers may share this interest, especially with the real possibility that Southwest may be doing away with their Companion Pass, coupled with Frontier putting some effort to improve their product.
The Companion Travel benefit is exclusively available to Platinum and Diamond Elite members. You get to bring a designated travel companion on your flight for just the cost of government taxes and fees (starting at $5.60).
Unfortunately, there is no easy way to earn Platinum or Diamond status at the moment. The Frontier credit card gives you Elite Gold status, and the recent Southwest to Frontier status match only allowed you up to Gold status. It is important to highlight that Elite Platinum/Diamond members can share some of their benefits with everyone booked in their reservation (including companions). These benefits include one free checked bag, no change or cancel fees, premium seat selection at check-in/booking, and priority boarding (Zone 1/board first).
