UBS Visa Infinite comes with an hefty annual fee of $495 so it is natural that sometimes some folks will look into cancelling or downgrading the card upon renewal.
You will pretty much always be told that you can downgrade the card to the regular UBS Visa card but the reality is you can’t. The agent will either call you few days later saying the downgrade request failed or you’ll just figure it out on your own later because no change was made. I suspect that that downgrade option might be available for UBS clients but it is definitely not an option for those who have a standalone credit card with UBS.
Thankfully UBS will do complete reversal of annual fee if the card is cancelled within 60 days from the day it was charged. The 60 days grace period is nice because a lot of banks have this grace period set to 30 days or so.
Closing Thoughts
A pretty short post but I think it is it was worth writing, especially because UBS barely gets mentioned in the credit card blogosphere.
