CoinZoom offers 1-5% cashback earning debit cards. It is a relatively new exchange and for quite a while their cards where excellent for MS. Then in November of 2021, they added cashback exclusion on three categories which I covered in this blogpost. Various lazy couch MS died then and there.
Anyway, fast forward and now they have added further Terms and Conditions to hinder MS. Now their terms and condition also includes limit on cashback earned on grocery spend:
Qualifying purchases exclude MCC Code 6011 (ATM Transactions), MCC Codes 4829, 6012, 6051, 6211, and 9402 (Financial Institutions Payments), MCC Code 6513 (Real Estate Agents and Managers), and purchases over $4,000 for a rolling 30 day period for MCC Code 5411 (Grocery Stores).
Suppose you have a 5% cashback earning CoinZoom card, now you are limited to earning $200 worth of CoinZoom token per 30 days for grocery expenses.
Closing Thoughts
This was inevitable. I won’t be surprised if they tighten up further. All crypto cards, like fintech cards, eventually tighten up on MS activities. The question always is – how much can you make in cashback before they wisen up to your shenanigans?
