9/19/2023 Update: The 120k offer has expired. Referral links now lead to an 80k offer for a $5k spend.
Southwest Business card (with an annual fee of $99) has had a huge 120,000 points offer for a while. The offer was supposed to end a few days ago on September 4, 2023, except the links are still alive. The signup bonus, along with points acquired while meeting the minimum spend requirement (MSR), will give you enough points to meet the 130k threshold needed for attaining a companion pass. Although the MSR is high, the offer is split into two bits making it a bit more manageable.
The key thing with this offer is that you can, in theory, use this offer and this offer alone to fulfill the companion pass requirement in January 2024. Why not do it now? Because then you will only have the pass for the rest of 2023 and the entirety of 2024. If you meet the requirement in 2024, then you will have the companion pass for the entirety of 2024 and 2025. This has been discussed in much detail by other blogs so instead of reiterating what has been said, I will simply link a post from Doctor of Credit.
One important thing to point out is that if you don’t get approved, then maybe don’t recon right away. Wait around 25-30 days from application time to recon. Also, if you apply now, secure a message immediately and get a written confirmation that an offer is attached like this guy on DoC did. If an application is live, typically a bonus is attached anyway but it doesn’t hurt to get that in writing.
Now, let’s get to the real meat of this post – use my referral yo!

Ok, the point of this post is kinda of to say that I am likely not doing this offer. Yes, I already applied but my goal is to just hit $3,000 MSR this year and the remaining $15,000 next year. Why? Because. lol. I am planning on getting another Southwest card anyway, so getting a companion pass should be easy. If I am looking to fly Southwest frequently again, I might as well also go for the business card that gives “unlimited” WiFi access….and it usually has a decentish 80k signup bonus anyway.
