A while ago Hyatt extended whole bunch of certs and club access award to December 31, 2021. Well, today is 30th of December and mine are about to expire and I am sure many of you are in a similar situation. The good news is you can call to convert some of these certs to points. How much points you get may vary or you may not get points at all, especially for free night cert.
My current status with Hyatt is Discoverist (I didn’t care to play Mlife game during the pandemic) and I was able to get 3,000 points for each of my four club access award (free upgrades). This was easily done by the Hyatt representative over the phone. However, the rep mentioned that I did not quality for getting points compensation for free night certificate (something about not meeting 10 stays) but she let me know that I can talk with her supervisor and cases are handled on case-by-case basis.
I was then transferred over to the supervisor with him I barely talked. He put me on hold and let me know that I will be awarded 10,000 points for my free night certificate.
There are a few other ways to contact Hyatt (eg twitter and chat) but today being the 30th of December, I suggest calling. Some people have had success getting points compensation via chat but wait time seems to be long. Unless you have status, I suspect you won’t be able to get points compensation for free night certs through chat. But if you insist on going the chat route, I suggest doing it through the app as I often got timed out while sitting on a chatroom through web browser.
Closing Thoughts
Took about an hour of phone time (almost all of it was hold time) to get certs converted to 22,000 Hyatt points. Not bad.
