I recently applied for a Wyndham Business card again and as usual, I was declined but this time around Barclay sent a letter apologizing for declining without evaluating the application and said they had taken the steps to remove the inquiry from my credit report. I think the main difference when compared to previous apps, was that I likely had less than 6 cards in the last 24 months (a.k.a. under 6/24), but I am not saying this is what caused the letter.
The letter sent by Barclay said the following:
We recently discovered that we inadvertently declined your business card application before fully evaluating it. We have taken steps to remove the credit bureau inquiry we made prior to declining this application.
If you are still interested in a Wyndham Business Credit Card account, please apply again by visiting BarclayUS.com
We value your business and apologize for this inconvenience.
Closing Thoughts
Never heard of this before. I am curious if they had some kind of a system malfunction in which case people who applied within a time frame are likely getting a similar letter. I don’t know.
