I like me some Hilton points. I have been saving them for my future trips, but I every miles/point has a “I would rather cashout” value and I guess 0.5 is it for Hilton.
On October 31, 2018 Hilton points could be redeemed at 0.5 cpp rate. The cpp Nazi will say that that isn’t truly 0.5 cpp but let’s move past the minute details. Anyway, I was quite late to the party of redeeming Hilton points choose to do a single order of $4,500 Amazon giftcard before moving on to redeeming Hilton points on other Hilton/Amazon account. Long story short, other $500+ orders yielded gift cards but the $4500 order eventually got cancelled.

But as luck would have it, the cashout opportunity came around again on November 27. This time around, I was on time. Plus I did not have to worry about cashing out on multiple accounts.
I ended up cashing out nearly 1 million Hilton points. Once everything was all set and done, my Hilton balance was at 1 points. I’ve already burned through much of that.
Closing Thoughts
It would have been rather dumb to not cash out. Sure Maldives Villa is nice and all but cash is better, especially when Hilton points are super easy to earn…and it helps that I’ve no immediate plan to go to that ultra expensive Hilton resort in Maldives.
