After all this time of being with American Express, I finally received a gift from Amex and it was the Beagle 2.0 Bluetooth tracker.
I did not expect this whatsoever. Not just because I had never received one before but even when I was “unboxing”, I thought there was going to be one of the several Amex card I had recently applied for. The box they had sent the gift in totally looked like one they typically send credit cards in.
As I unboxed this gift with confusion, it became apparent to me that I had received it because I hold SPG Luxury card. Now that isn’t to say that every holder of the SPG Luxury card will get a Bluetooth tracker.
Needless to say I sought to seek some answers on the internet and I quickly saw that people have received this exact gift as early as late September 2018 (3 months before now). I assume they’re sent out another wave of gifts recently during the holidays.
Now as far as the gift itself goes, well, it’s a complimentary gift that I received for free so I very much appreciate the gesture from American Express. I do think the SPG branding of a Bluetooth tracker is cool. But the Beagle 2.0 tracker itself is kinda meh.
Various blogs have claimed Beagles cost $25-89 but I had difficulty finding those sale price for individual Beagles. I don’t think they’re worth anywhere near $25. The app is horrendous and has very poor rating on app stores (1.4/5 on apple store and 2.3/5 on google store).
Neverthless free is free.
