Last week I broke the news that my Chase ‘ban’ due to high number of inquires and accounts was lifted. This was, to my knowledge, the first DP of its kind. In said post I had mentioned that Chase’s relationship with me wasn’t unsatisfactory by month 10-11 but I speculated if similar unsatisfactory relationships can be lifted sooner. I put my player 2, who was also ‘banned’ by Chase for same reason, to test and in doing so not only did I confirm my speculation but also confirmed 5/24 extension.
First things first, 5/24 has officially been extended. I had player 2 apply for IHG and the denial reason the usual 5/24 language i.e. too many credit cards opened in the last two years associated with you.
The other interesting bit is again the fact that there was no other denial reason. Most importantly, the “previous unsatisfactory relationship with this bank” wasn’t a reason for denial like it was in player 2’s last IHG application.
The same question arises again – how long did it take for “unsatisfactory relationship” to fade away? Well, as you can see above player 2’s last IHG app was back in April of 2018 (by the way it was the app that triggered shutdown) and the new app was made on November of 2018.
This means Chase’s unsatisfactory relationship can fade away in at most 6 months. Again, it could be sooner but we would need more data points to be sure.
