4/2/2022 (2 year later) Update: This didn’t automatically work but since my S22 Ultra is laggy I sat down to chat with an agent and was able to get 5% refund. The agent said that’s the maximum discount they can offer. Few days later, the refund was confirmed via an email:
Original post below:
If you bought the latest Samsung Note phone from Samsung.com then you’re likely paid over $1000. Now, less than a month after their release, both models of Note are already discounted by $200 on Amazon with Samsung Note 20 going for $799 and Samsung Note 20 Ultra for $1199 (Amazon affiliate links).
It is almost as if the $150-$200 preorder “bonus” were factored into the hefty launch price. Anyway, if you’re having a buyers remorse, you might be thinking about returning the product and it looks like Samsung has gone one extra step to keep you as a customer. Side note, Samsung allows you to initiate a return 15 days of receiving your product.
When you attempt to return the product, you will likely be greeted with 10% for refunding for keeping the product( i.e. not returning) with a maximum of $100 discount. This option will go away should you go ahead and print your return label. I saw this option in both my phone and watch purchase. The refund will be directly credited to your source of payment.
Closing Thoughts
This is a pretty win-win move for buyer and seller. The consumer who was second guessing the purchase is happy because their out of the pocket cost is much lower. Meanwhile, Samsung does not have to pay return shipping cost and go through the process of inspecting the returned product and reselling it at a much much lower cost.
