Since I first wrote about Stitch Fix, I have received my first box and am on my way to receive my second box. I feel like I have enough experience with Stitch Fix to review it. Stitch Fix has also introduced ‘extras’ which can act as a filler items.
Extras
Our stitchfix referral gives $25 credit to both of us
Since my last post, Stitch Fix has introduced “extras”. For women extras includes bikini, ankle socks, bra, bralette, thong, linter socks, tights, crew socks, shapewear, thong, brief, bralette, tights, and cami. The notable things about extras have been stated by SF as such:
- The Extras you pick will arrive in your upcoming Fix, along with the 5 items your Stylist selects.
- You can add or remove Extras from your Fix anytime before your Fix is styled.
- Shipping and returns are free. Use the prepaid envelope included in your box to return items.
- To pay for the Extras you want to keep, check out online after you receive your Fix.
- Your $20 styling fee will be applied toward any purchases, including Extras.
- Your purchase of Extras does not count toward the Buy 5 discount. If you buy all 5 of the items your Stylist picks, the discount will be applied to those 5 items but not the Extras.
At the moment extras start as low as $10 which means they are perfect filler items to meet some threshold (perhaps because you have a referral, gift card, or an amex offer).
I strongly suggest ordering extras worth $20 with every box. Remember that $20 styling fee can apply towards extras, which means if you don’t like any 5 items, you will have the option to burn $20 fee towards extras.
Short Review
Our stitchfix referral gives $25 credit to both of us
I did a Fix for my SO and she was fairly pleased with it. One item was a complete miss but we had not told the stylist to not include such item. One item was a huge hit and that is all I was aiming for.
I gave my stylist a price range and I was happy to see that request honored. I told them specifically what not to include and I was glad to not see them in the box.
I googled prices of items in my fixes but barely anything turned up and that may have something to do with the fact that I did not google hard enough. One item that I did find was $4 cheaper than what SF was selling them for previously.
Returning items I did not want was a breeze. The box comes with a prepaid envelope attached to a bag which is easy to seal. When you have decided what you want to keep and return, you go to stitch fix website, click on return/keep button, and a bill will be automatically sent to your email.
I think the major reason we enjoyed our Fix is because:
- I was not looking to keep more than one-two items.
- Because we had at least one ‘hit’ item, I did not lose $20 to styling fee.
- I was getting cheap Fix because of American Express offer “spend $50 and get $25” (see previous SF post).
P.S. for the curious here is the Azaria Knit Dress we kept
