A while ago I wrote on Chase Shutdown of Player #2 – Number of Inquiries and Request for Credit and you may recall that Player #2 was took the situation rather well. Player #2 did not want to bother calling the number on the back of the card, contacting the Executive Office (EO) through a written CFBT complain was the only way to go, however as expected the CFBT complain and EO wasn’t of any help at all.
Small Note:
I have written several posts regarding Chase shutdown due to high number of inquires and accounts. I tend not to update individual posts with my latest findings and thought. For better or worse, I also avoid reading my opinions from previous post in these subject because doing so ensures that thoughts that I put into this post are free of any opinions I may have jotted down in previous posts. Each post in this matter reflects my opinion and thoughts at the time of writing them. If you want to absorb the most amount of information, I suggest reading through them in chronological order. Needless to say my latter posts may contradict my thoughts and opinion in prior posts. On occasion I may repeat some stuff from previous posts but that is mostly unintentional.
Chase’s response to the complain was essentially to reiterate what they did and slap a “your account will remain closed” title. They didn’t even bother to say “at your request, we proceeded a reconsideration reinstatement review of your account” like they did in my CFPB complain which probably means they didn’t bother to do it at all.
If you contact executive office (which is essentially what CFPB complain is) all you really get is a well spoken rep who’ll note down what you say and will forward it to the appropriate department.
For many months I have come to believe that the best method to reinstatement is to directly call the number on the back of your card and make your case directly with the appropriate department. This experience only enforced that belief even further.
Now, I’m not saying contacting executive office in these case is 100% useless. I’m sure there are a handful of people who got shutdown for similar reasons and got reinstated after contacting the executive office. What I’m really saying is most people with similar cases are better off contacting the appropriate department on their own.
