It is that time of the year when phone deals reach their peak. Less than a month ago I posted about T-Mobile Samsung BOGO deal and few months before that that it was T-Mobile iPhone BOGO offer. Now, T-Mobile is offering $700 off on Second iPhone XS or XS Max.

The good thing about this deal is that you can pay full price upfront and get $700 gift card mailed to you later. Remember you can cash out these gift cards from T-Mobile so it is practially cash.
One major drawback of this deal is that you need to buy iPhones at Costco and Costco obviously requires a membership. Also, Costco requires Visa credit card and there aren’t a whole lot of Visa credit card left with price protection benefit. Remember you can product change existing Citi card to Costco Visa card and those do have price protection benefit, however Citi tends to take their time with product change. To be fair, because iPhone prices don’t drop as much, the lack of price protection isn’t that big of a deal.
Personally I will be passing on this deal because
- I’m not that interested in upgrading iPhone 8s I recently purchased
- I don’t have Citi Visa card so I won’t be getting any price protection
- Pixel 3 offer on T-Mobile should be popping next month (see 2017 Pixel 2 50% deal here) and doing this deal will likely disqualify me from Pixel 3 offer T-Mobile may offer in October
- Pixel deals don’t get repeated but iPhone BOGO deals tend to repeat. I got iPhone 8 on second round of BOGO deal that T-Mobile had offered on iPhone 8 and X after over 7 months from release date…..and by that time the price had dropped a little thus qualifying me for some sweet price protection on both iPhones.
Closing Thoughts
If you’re on the market for a new iPhone and have T-Mobile’s 55+ plan (or know someone who does) then this is a fantastic offer. T-Mobile Military plan should also qualify but do double check.
