The regular no annual fee Chase Disney credit card now provides a signup bonus of $200 statement credit after spending $500 and somehow this has become a huge buzz among individual churners. The bloggers have better paying offers to sell but individual churners are selling this like the best thing ever and the casual (and even intermediate) churners are eating it up. In this this post I will tell you why this offer is not much better than previous offer. In fact this offer is not all that good for 99% of churners.
The previous offer was $200 Disney Dollar after spending $500 which was just as good as this offer. You are probably thinking reselling Disney Dollar will not get you $200 except you do not have to resell at all. You can flat out cash out Disney Dollar as statement credit. This cash out trick requires you to upgrade to a Disney Premier card, which has an annual fee of $49, but you can likely downgrade right back. Plus, Chase tends to make $1 moneymaker upgrade offer. The point I am trying to make is that $200 Disney Dollar should be no different from $200 statement credit and if you are not in a hurry, then do not signup.
So the question now is – who the heak is this card for?
Obviously anyone below 5/24 should not be getting this card. You have far better cards to go through, ex CIP and CSP, etc. Remember that even if you manufacture spend (MS) the entire minimum spend requirement (MSR) at high fee, say 3% with Venmo, cards like CSP and CIP will still earn you far more through a signup bonus than a Disney card ever will.
Anyone who is a heavy churner better not be trying to get this card. If your credit report has lots of new accounts and inquires then you are risking a Chase shutdown by applying for a Chase card. Even if you want to risk a shutdown, certainly you churn better non-5/24 cards like Ritz, IHG, Hyatt, and Marriott business?
So is this card for an intermediate churner? Not entirely. If you are at your intermediate stage of churner, then you are probably already having some difficulty getting approved by slightly harder to get approved issuers like Barclay, US Bank, etc. Hopefully by now you have realized that you should be trying to minimize as many new inquires and accounts as you can.
A great way to minimize inquires is by combining inquires. My question to an intermediate churner who is looking to churn this card is – are you applying for another Chase card as well? If you are then the obvious question are:
- is it worth a slight increase in shutdown possibility?
- do you not have other non-5/24 Chase card you could churn?
A great way to minimize new account is by applying for business cards that do not show up in credit report, ex Chase and Bank of America. Bank of America has several low profile business credit cards and as of writing this article, they are not restricted by 2-3-4 rule (see anti-churning rules). You can get the exact same $200 for $500 offer from following BoA business credit cards like ‘Business Advantage Cash Rewards Mastercard’ and ‘Platinum Visa Business’. Remember that you can freeze credit bureau, apply for BoA cards, and direct BoA to pull an unfrozen bureau of your choice.
At this point you’re probably thinking “if it card is not ideal for newbies, intermediate, or advanced churners then whom is this card for?” The card only makes sense to those who are selling it and I say this as someone who had this card.
Chase Disney card is and always has been a card that looks like it has good signup bonus. Everyone has soft spot for Disney so that appeal of the card certainly helps. Sure the card has some benefits like free meet and greet with Disney characters and whatnot but you can get that exact benefit by having Disney themed Chase debit card.
The card makes sense if you are willing to sell it to the uninformed masses (i.e. not churners). It certainly helps that $200 offer (Disney Dollar or Cash) is often referral exclusive. The fact that not many folks share referral for this card on the internet certainly helps.
The card also makes sense if you are referring someone in your family because you net up to $300 for quick and easy $500 spend.
All that said, if you are still unconvinced in my attempt to prevent you from applying for this card OR if you are a good credit card seller then go ahead and signup through our link
